What our guests think.
I came over to see Scotland with my husband, son, daughter-in-law, grand-daughter, and grand-son. We were told about Kempston House from a family friend. We had no idea what to expect as B&Bs aren't common in the States. We arrived to a beautiful 'castle-like' home with gorgeous views. We were welcomed by the owner, Trudi. She was friendly and accomodating in a way that made us feel at home. Our meals were delicious and the dining room was very nice. Our rooms had everything we needed including travel guides to local amenities we might otherwise have missed. My husband and I stayed in the MaCallan room and my son and his family stayed in the Benromach room. Their room had plenty of space for the little ones to play and watch tv. We also liked being in the room across from them, secluded to our entire family being upstairs alone. The train was a short taxi away which allowed us to get around and really see everything. Any questions we had, Trudi answered above and beyond our expectations (especially considering there were so many things we didn't understand like heated towel racks and different power outlets). I was pleasantly surprised with our first B&B experience. Clean, friendly, quiet, qourmet food, and again an atmosphere that made everyone within our party feel comfortable (our family range was ages 7months-57). I would recommend this to anyone but especially if you are new to the area. Thanks again.

My husband and I visited Kempston House for a long weekend while visiting the United Kingdom. We stayed in the green room on the first floor. Very charming home with a nice mix of modern facilities with a traditional Scottish feel. The owner was very kind and helped with my dietary issues, providing tasty options. We had been very busy while traveling and we were happy to have a quiet getaway with breathtaking sunrises and peaceful walks. Definitely would have Kempston House on my agenda the second time I visit.

I come to the Elgin area quite often to visit friends and family. When I do I always stay at Kempston House. After living in the city, the calm of Urqhuart is a peaceful change. At night you hear nothing and you can see the stars so clearly. Trudi, the owner, is one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet. Her bubbly and hospitable personality will make you feel as though you are hanging out with a close friend. She is very intuitive and seems to know exactly what you need, weather it be peace and quiet or someone to have a cup of tea and a nice chat. I always stay in the Glenfiddich Room which is more than enough for me. The king size bed is SO comforable and the sheets are crisp, makes me hate going back to my own bed. I love the shower in the en-suite, the water pressure is fantastic... I know, it's the simple things that please me. There is parking right outside and I'm just a 5-10 minute drive into town. I love how Trudi keeps the house so clean, as that sort of thing really matters to me. Her food is so yummy. Her dining room is pretty and the detail she puts into all aspects of her home and business is very personable. The fireplace is cosy to sit by and watch tv and the wifi helps you stay connected... if you want to, I like to escape. Kempston House is my better than 'home away from home'.
